Area 51 was conceived in Los Angeles in 1994 by Douglas R. Docker (keyboards, vocals) and Mio Jäger (vocals, guitars), who cowrote two songs on Docker's Guild's "Season 1" and is featured on guitars in "The Heisenberg Diaries - Book A". The duo wrote a commercial album of “intelligent pop” that would include their main influences while being as radio friendly as possible. The result was a bizarre hybrid of electronic space pop/rock with R&B melodies, a unique blend of progressive rock songwriting, AOR vocals and synth pop arrangements.
There are very few copies still available of this CD, so it has become sort of a collectors item
4-track cassette demo used to shop the Area 51 to labels (1995). The project had not taken a sci-fi direction yet and the mixes are different from the final album. Very rare, only 5 left in stock.
This was my first professional paid session work. I played classical piano and organ for Italian tenor Antonio Caffaro's LP featuring classical arias and popular Neapolitan songs.
Night Fever was the first disco music tribute band in Italy, created in 1997 and featuring 3 Docker's Guild musicians (Douglas R. Docker, Magnus Jacobson and Mio Jager)
